In June of 2012, Equal Education received a letter from Zamxolo — a 21-year-old Grade 11 student from Matatiele, Eastern Cape. The letter described the poor conditions in his school. Amazwi Wethu students traveled to the Eastern Cape to document the dire situation and help organize the community to create change for Moshesh Senior Secondary School.
The Equal Education Law Centre eventually took over the case, and reached a settlement in favor of improving the teaching and learning conditions in the community.
